Default Touring bags

I'm in the market for a touring bag for a 10 day trip out west later this summer. I'm thinking I need to pick up a detachable rack, but maybe not. Can any of y'all offer me some experience thoughts on the different brands. I've looked at Kury, TBags and just saw an ad for Saddleman so I need to check them out. Any thoughts appreciated, thanks for the help.
Steve

Along with some thoughts on the bags...maybe some "heads up" on things I need to remember to pack in those bags.

I have the T-Bags Route 66 bag that I put on my luggage rack. Great bag, comes with wheels and a nice rain cover.

I'd get the 4 point docking hardware, stealth luggage rack, passenger backrest, a T-bag for on top of the luggage rack and one for the passenger seat (unless of course you have a passenger).

If you do not have a passenger, I recommend getting a bag that will fit on your passenger seat. Like these:

Keeping a bag off the tour pak luggage rack makes for ease of access as well as better weight distribution. If you are going with a passenger, it's obviously different and something like this holds a ton of stuff.

Default Happy with my Saddleman

I had a sissybar on my old bike and had a Saddleman 3500 sitting in the passenger seat behind me. This bag is huge.

If you get a Saddleman, test the raincover. They had a few bad ones come in off the boat. Mine ripped at the seam first time I used it, but Saddleman had no problem shipping me a new cover (made of better material) right away.

TBags dakota on my tour pack. has backpacks on the ends that zip off. Has rain cover, bottle holders, place for maps and stuff and is quick to get on and off. Ridden in monsoooon rain and no leakage.

Kury, T-bags & Saddlemen make great stuff, but don't forget about Nelson Rigg.

Yep, the first one is what I bought for Bikes, Blues and BBQ this year. Really nice quality item.

I just bought a Saddleman, and it looks like good quality. It has some good pockets, for smaller often used items which I like. The price was better on the saddleman, and that was the deciding factor for me. The bag wont get alot of use, but it is a must have on longer trips. Maybe it could stop raining and I could try it out.

Good luck

I have a Saddleman back seat bag that I took to Daytona for a 4 day trip. Could not find enough stuff to fill it up and it made a good backrest. You can put a lot of the heavier stuff in this bag and keep your senter of gravity lower for better handling.
