exhaust question
went down to penn. on weekend and saw a box of vance and hines pipes. originally I thought they were power duals. turns out they are dresser duals. for 307 bucks brand new, 130 off price. customer ordered them and then didn't buy them .
I left a deposit 60 bucks to pick up this weekend , then once at home I found vance and hines site and drag specialty site since it had a drag number on the box i couldnt tell for sure what they were. Guys at counter must be deaf because I kept saying power duals and no one ever corrected me. Any way my question is, looks like the dresser duals completely separate the exhausts, am I right on this,
next question is is it better for exhaust systems to be tied together front and back cylinder for the operation of the bike. I have 103 with 255 cams. or is it better to have separate pipes performance wise. I know the dyno exhaust gas sniffer will have and easier time going in separate pipes for a reading if I ever get it on the dyno.. any benefits to performance or drawbacks. Im hoping to finish the engine job over winter with mva heads and monster ovals. I already have race tuner with smart tune

Hey, going out on a limb here since I see no one has answered your post, we have had alot of experience with new exhaust, previously on 03 fxst, now on 09 streetglide. Love Vance & Hines, but yes, in my experience the dresser duals seperate, and depending on your model cross over somewhere on the bike. Every bike only fits specific exhausts. We have fit three different bikes with five different exhausts. Chances are those pipes will not fit your bike. Go to the Vance & Hines site and input the make of your bike, they will tell you exactly what model fits. As a disclaimer, I am the wife of the phoneman, and he does the wrenching, I just look up parts and watch while he works so I can't get real techy on you. Sorry. Good Luck.
it is the exact part number for my bike. Im not questioning the fit I already know they the right part for my bike. i am questioning if they are 2 separate pipes or have a cross over I cant see in pictures. and if there is not cross over what benefits or negatives do pipes without the cross over have. I said power duels over and over at dealer and no one picked up on it. guess they werent listening to me , part number from drag specilaties is

Dresser duals are two seperate pipes (true duals). Most tuners will tell you the power duals will do more for the tune (torque). I just put the dresser duals on my 09 ultra and will be due a tune as I haven't found a canned map that does what I think it should. I'm stock with a stage one a/c and pcv.
Give Jamie at Fuelmoto a call and talk to him about what the best options are for you bike and set up. When I first got my bike, I was going to go with a set of True Duals.....Then I started reading on here and doing research. I found out without doing other modifications, just doing a stage one with a true dual set up, I would lose the low to mid TQ I was looking for and that a 2-1 system or one that emulates it like the Jackpot Dyno tuned slipons would give me the best results for what I was looking for.
I know you have the 255 cam, but not really sure that is a great cam for true duals..seems they like the 2-1 or Jackpot type setup.
There are many threads on this subject that you can search along with websites and Dyno sheets to see how the setup you have would work with that exhaust.
But making the phonecall will let you talk to a professional about it and how to get the most out of your bike.
Price on the Duals seems pretty good...

seems like if I reduce the back pressure with the dresser dual I will loose some torque and not sure what hp will do. I may can the deal and hold out for power duasl some day. wish they were the power duals, 130 off regular price is a pretty good deal and being from canada you can probably add another 250-350 to the 307 price to get up to our rip off pricing we pay here.
