Default Need new rear tire

Need to replace my worn rear tire. Right now running a metz 150/70-18. Been looking for another metz but a german one(Heard they grip better than brazil, dont know if its true), but also considering an avon. Any opionions? Also its no big deal to mix tire brands as long as both front and rear are bias? So are avons real sticky. Looking for a tire that really grabs under hard take offs.Thx

sounds like your an aggressive rider if you need a tire based on strong takeoffs. If you're gonna abuse your tires, may as well get something cheap dude.

JakeWilson.com selling Michelin Commander 16" for $65...donno 'bout 18". You could tear thru almost 3 of 'em for the cost of a Metz.

Avon makes a good product but they are on the soft side. They provide excellent grip wet or dry but when you have a tire that has those characteristics they typically are not the longest lasting.

Avon makes both the Cobra and Venom tires but if you want a 150/70-18 then the Venom tire is your only option. I think you will find the Venom 150/70-18 a little softer than the Metzler and it might grip a little bit better.

I just replaced my rear tire (Metzler 140/70-18) about a month ago. I went with the tire you have currently (150/70-18). I asked about the German manufactured vs. Brazil, also, but was told the Brazil is fine as long as you keep the tire pressure up (50 psi). So far, the tire feels really good. The guy asked if I wanted the Avon Venoms, but said they were a softer compound and not as reliable as the Metzler and would only last about 8K miles...

I'm trying a Bridgestone 150/70-18 on mine now. Only have couple 100 miles but so far so good. Last 2 Metz's were showing cords at 8.5K and I'm easy on my stuff. Bridgestone is 1/2 the price of the Metz's at Jake Wilson

I've had Avon Vemons but I was just not satisfied with them. I'm trying out metzlers now. Good luck in your decision.
