Smile range calculation

What is the most miles your bike has said you can go to empty? Today mine said 298 miles after over filling the tank. Normal is around 235.

96 cubic inch, 204 cam, PCV tuner, 2010 road glide. Most mpg I can get is 40. Therefore I would not like to go over 210 miles. To get this milage, speed has to remain under 70. If I run 85, milage really drops significantly(36).

Mines 245 and it always takes 5 gallon to top it off leaving a 1 gallon reserve in the 6 gallon tank

I've checked it a few times. Usually reads 270-275. I've seen it go up while riding or after a stop. One thing I know is that it isn't correct, nor is the fuel gauge.
I use the trip meter which also isn't as accurate as it could be but at least it's consistent. Refilling around 225 miles leaves a little extra in case the station happens to be a little farther down the road.
