Default Oil filter for Ultra Classic

Any opinions on K & N oil filter for 2008 Ultra Classic? I have been using amsoil in all 3 holes, I can not remember what brand oil filter, I just get everything at indy shop and change all 3 holes at same time. I am thinking I should switch to K & N oil filter and Redline in tranny but I can not decide what to put in primary. I know this has been beat to death in previous post but it seems like I need a fresh thread with opinions from someone who has used the filters and what type primary fluid they use in primary. Thanks in advance for info.

Use Redline Primary Oil. I've used K&N Filter's. They are ok, but about the same price as HD Black Filter's, so I switched back to HD

I use the black HD filter and Castrol GTX 10-40 in the primary.

Have used chrome K&N oil filters for years on my bikes, no problems at all.
I get mine from a local Ducati dealer who stocks accessories for all kinds of bikes, he sells them to me a lot cheaper than I can get HD filters for. The nut on the end makes for easy removal.

Also use Redline MTL in the primary, have used for years with zero issues.

Ok, here is an opinion. An oil filter is a "routine" service item, meaning it has a relatively short life and is disposable. I don't see the point in spending extra money for bells and whistles on a routine service item. The OEM replacement filter offers adequate filtering capability for the motor. Keep your ears open for sales and buy several filters when you can get a deal, then you will always have one on the shelf. My bad, you only wanted to know about K&N oil filters. Oh well it seems a waste not to hit the post button.

K&N filters work just fine, the nut on the end makes them easy to change, alot easier than Harley filters. Use what ever is easy to get in the primary, any 10-40 will work. If you are changing the primary and transmission oil at every oil change, you are wasting alot of money and throwing good oil away. I do the primary and transmission every other engine oil change, and some say that is too often. Good luck and think spring!!!!

I was looking at the K & N filter because it has the nut for easy removal but I will not use them if they are not adequate for the bike.

On my 08 Ultra, I am back to the black HD filters. They are a little cooler in the summer than the chrome, and work just fine. Also use Redline on all 3 holes (they sell a pack that comes with all the fluids for the fluid changes for under a hundred bucks at racer supply warehouse, with stickers, hat, funnel, etc included).

I too use the K&N oil filters.
For the primary, I use ATF fluid.
