Red face Pump Gas: What grade do you use in your bike?

I've never really given much thought to using a higher grade of fuel than regular (87)...but have heard others tell me to use 92-93 octane instead.

What do you folks use and why?

Just curious.

I always use Premium (91-92 octane around here). I have used 87-89 Octane (In a pinch) if on the road and no premium available.

Read your owners manual, it says to use 91 octane or better. You've got a 20 thousand $$$ bike & you're trying to save a few bucks on gas!!! Detonation & engine damage will cost you a lot more.

91 or higher, is what HD recommends. I will not use anything else.

87 because its the cheapest, lmao. I should probably use premium though. I am in the military and got my limited while I was home on R&R leave from Iraq. My thinking now is why burn 87 octane in a 25,000.00 bike. So when I do get to ride Big Red again ( 70 days left in the sandbox, WooHoo ) I am going to switch to 91. This is my first bagger, been doing alot of research on upgrades and things. I plan on keeping this bike for a very long time. 91 is recommended, so thats what I am going to run when I get home. Stay safe and keep the shiney side up.

91-93 no alcohol preferred but those days are numbered.I've had to run a gallon or 2 of 87-89 to get me to the next town a couple of times.

Premium only. Look at it this way. 5 or 6 gallon tank..5 cents more a gallon for premium= 25 to 30 cents more a fillup. No brainer for no detionation IMO

i don't know where you're at but here the difference is more like 30 - 40 cents per gallon. still, hd recommends 91, so premium is what i run.
