Default My South Carolina Ride on 1-28-11

www motorcycle roads com

sc/nc Loop

Started out from Pickens, SC following HWY 178 towards Rosman NC we had perfect weather and the senery was awsome complete with wildlife.

From Rosman NC we got on HWY 215 heading towards the Blue Ridge Parkway, when we got to the first Blue Ridge Overpass I noticed that the road on the other side still had thick ice, so we turned around at this point.

I forgot to mention that we were going to turn RIGHT onto 276 Cruse Rd back to HWY 11 if we could have made it there.

Must be nice to be able to ride this time of year. Here in NJ we are still buried in snow.

Sounds like a good ride. I got up, dressed for the weather - jeans, boots, big puffy coat, gloves, hat - grabbed the dog and leash and we headed out for our morning constitutional. We only got 20 feet beyond the driveway before she fell on her a$$ due to ice and refused to go a step further. I carried her back in (hitting my funny bone on the windscreen of the covered FHLTK as we struggled by) where she proceeded to remind me that she had not 'constituted' anything while outside.

I'm happy you had a good ride. Really. But I'm also getting really, really, really tired winter around here...

Okay. Enough whining.

I live 20 minutes from the BRP and learned not to try to get on it until the weather has warmed the snow and ice completely off the road (the hard way). Never went down but had several huge pucker factors until I got to the next exit....

Yesterday was a perfect day to ride in South Carolina!! I had a great ride with a good friend from Lake Murray (Chapin) to Lancaster (about 85 miles each way). We went all back roads… We went through Peak, Par, and Winnsboro. Highway 213 to 34 to 200. SC 200 is a nice road; one just has to keep an eye out for deer. Sunday should be just as good, but we may go out on the lake for part of the afternoon.

Took a 150mi ride around the El Paso/ Las Cruces area, great weather (in the 60's). Not rubbing it in, being from Ohio, I know Winter's can be a problem.

Rode 135 miles here in coastal SC today. Bikes everywhere! Temps got up to 65! Can't beat year-round riding. I really hate it for the guys up north, but maybe they will get an early spring. Hang in there my Yankee friends, it won't be too much longer!

J Cloud, I probably passed you, I was headed in the other direction, down to Lake Murray from Lugoff to meet some friends, we rode out to Saluda back through Newberry and then I slabbed it back from the S&S late in the afternoon before the temperature dropped.

Stayed local today, but I can ride for HOURS and never be more than 30 miles from the house with all the good roads out here.
