Default Transmission oil for a 05 RKCustom.

I am given two diffrent trans oil amounts in my service book. In the front of the book it saids it takes 32OZ. On the engine chapter is saids 22-24OZ. I am just draining the old fluid and going to replace it with fresh oil. But i just want to make sure. I even called a few harley shops. they said it is 22-04oz. I just want to make sure. This is for a 2005 Road king Custom. Thanks,Ben

I'm not sure why the different amounts. I would just pour some in & check it with the dipstick until it's at the correct level. Then re-check it after to ride it a few miles.

You are correct if your bike is '07 and newer.

The guys bike is an '05 and has a completely different trans than you do. He has a 5 speed, you have a Cruise Drive six speed.

My '02 is 20 to 24 oz. in the tranny. I'd put in about 20 oz. then check the dipstick after a few minutes. Then fill to the mark on the stick.

Northside. I am going with the 20-24Oz. It just sucks that a manuel that you should trust is wrong. Can you tell me how much oil your 02 takes? This is my first fluid change so i am not sure. Thanks, Ben

I put in 24 oz. last time I changed oil. Use the dipstick and you'll be fine. You just don't want to over fill so go easy. It also helps to have a good selection of funnels.
