Default cost of painting inner fairing.

Has anyone had there inner fairing taken off and painted by a bodyshop?

I am trying to get a generalized idea of the cost. Thanks..

If you have the dealer remove and reinstall, I think it goes for around $400-$600. I'd never pay that though, it's easy to remove and reinstall yourself, and have several contacts in body shops, so I only spent $100 and a case of beer.

What kind of bike? I have a '10 R.G. and mine is getting painted right now by probably one of the best shops around my area. I'm paying $400. That includes complete inner, compartment doors, I had them tape off and not paint inside compartments, pieces around spedo, and plastic around headlights.

If it isn't done perfect,.( as another poster is complaing about ),..............it doesn't matter if it's free.

The best bet is to buy a factory color matched. No down time, & perfect paint match, with perfect finish.

im not worried about down time, I was just trying to get an idea in my head.. I still have to talk to my painter.. I am having the front fairing silver repainted because of some damage I caused with a chemical, I just thought if the front is being done maybe the inner can be as well..

Materials are gonna go at least 150.00 then labor .. depending on if its base clear or tri color (I wish id have just bought the silver one ).. The labor isnt really a big deal as you can scuff it with scotchbrite lay a little epoxy primer on it ( i use epoxy as it sticks to everything and sticks well) then paint but you have to remember with all the regulations now days unless your dealing with a backyard painter (like me but ive done it for years) your helping pay for all the equipment needed to stay compliant. Nothing is cheap anymore..

If you buy it from a dealer that offers 20% off, and sell your old one,....it ends up being with-in $100 difference.

For peace of mind,........perfect match & workmanship,.............I'll pay the C-note everytime.

HD doesn't list the '03 model year for availability in color-matched inner fairings. You could use vivid black which will run about $450 from a discounter including shipping. You can sell your take-off for $100 roughly, so your net cost will be $350. A painter should be able to shoot the inner for no more than $200 +/-.
