Screaming Eagle Stage 1 Air cleaner Install
I'm installing a Screaming Eagle Air Cleaner (or trying to) on a 2011 RKC and on the instructions it says to remove the Gas Tank, I'm assuming to get to the Induction module bolts to remove the induction module bracket. I read on another post for an older bike that this is easy to remove/ or that you dont need to remove it. Instructions say you do.
The Air Cleaner back plate doesn't look like it will seat flush unless you remove it. I can't for the life of me get a damn tool in those bolt heads to remove them. Any suggestions? Damn of all the things I figured i'd be able to do this install! right tools for the right job i guess.

Just installed the HD Ventilator on my 2010 Road Glide about a week ago. Their instructions also said to remove the gas tank in order to take off the induction module bracket. I just used an allen wrench between the tank and the bracket and was able to ease it off. It took a little patience since I could only turn the mounting screws a little at a time, but wasn't a problem. Leave the tank on.

Recently installed the SE A/C on my Limited. I loosened the two rear tank bolts and propped up the tank with a 1 inch piece of wood. Still a tight fit for the 5/16" allen wrench, as I could not see the top of the bolt, so I did it by "feel". Just take your time and be careful not to scratch the tank. Good luck.

I did like the above poster and just lifted the rear of the tank (2011 rgu) and used one of these on a socket allen wrench and it was a no brainer.

just to be on the safe side i wraped black tape around the wrench I used so I would not scratch the tank if I made contact with it.

I didn't have to remove the gas tank to install th SE A/C, but the local Indy did. I read thru the instructions right up until they mentioned "gas tank removal" and "induction module bracket" and decided I wasn't up to the task. My Indy installed it for me for $20, but he was also doing some other work for me at the same time. His only complaint about the whole procedure was that I brought the bike in with a full tank of gas.
