Camping out of a bike
#21
I also use a Walmart Ozark dome. It rolls down tight with the rain cover and poles inside. I ditch the bag. I wrap it tight with paracord and bungee it under my luggage rack. I hit it with silicone spray this year to ensure it stays dry. Check out the ozark trail lighweight camping pads for $34 or for $55 get one of those blow up versions but they both are small. If the weather holds the wife and I are heading to Canada next week for some camping so I can get some pix of our gear and bike packed.

Three years ago I bought a cheapo Ozark Trail 3 man tent from walmart for 35$ plenty of room for 2 people my queen size air mattress pretty much takes up the floor space. It's been to Sturgis twice and held up when much more expensive tents blew away in the wind, I used it at least 4-5 times a year and it is still in good shape. I pack the poles and stakes in a saddlebag, and roll it up and tie it down with my sleeping bag on the luggage rack. This year I splurged and bought the 5 man model it only packs a little bit bigger and is 13'x10'x6'. 59.95$ I think http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trai...-Tent/14089866

You get what you pay for in tents. A two man tent, such as MSR's Hubba Hubba is a very good tent for one man (althought they say it's a two man tent) with room for gear and a rain fly. Packs down to a very small size and weighs practically nothing. The better and lighter tents are, the more expensive they become. Yes they are over $350, so what? It's good gear that will not let you down. Will last for years.

I also have the Walmart Ozark 3 man tent. It fits in the bottom of my saddlebag, I just keep it in the case it came in. I wasn't going to buy this cheap of a tent but several buddies had the Ozark and had good luck with them. I have been pleased with my tent and for the price it's hard to beat.
