I am not trying to be confrontational here because its just not worth it. But I have to say I own a VTX 1300 which I didn't even re-jet but has open pipes (air-fuel adjustment is about all they need when you only open the pipes), and a FLHRC with a 96 stage 1. My VTX would positively smoke my Harley every way to Sunday in a race, straight away or twisting. The 1800's were about the fastest things without rear controls- too much for a cruiser IMO.

But I only ride that VTX when I want to scream through the wooded backroads. The rest of the time I'm On the Road King- it's just a much smoother ride, like someone else said it's "Cadillac style".

Have you seen a Yami FJR1300 or a Kawi Concours14? You can ride 2 up all day long with a passenger and luggage (yes hard bags and case) and still run 5 miles at the end of the day. My ZRX doesn't have clip ons, it has bars, but I ride with people who go long distance 2 up riding with enough clothes to get through a few days no problem. Even my ZZR had hard bags on it at one point and that has clip ons and I could ride that all day 2 up with the right seat.
Yes Jap bike seats suck, always have, always will.

what do you do with a 140HP engine designed to operate continuously at 6,000 rpm?
My rice bikes rarely see 6 grand under normal riding, normal cruising at 80 mph is about 4200 rpm. When either of my rice bikes go past 4500 rpm's and run on the main jets it is like hitting a nitrous button.

With the Harley we have a slower pace, but it's continuous. When I park people smile at me, they don't stare anymore and often engage conversation. What else do we need ?
I agree, we take life at a slower pace, and I get stared at all the time. People are not used to a 52 year old grey old man being underneath a full faced Shoei and peeling off textile gear.

As far as I'm concerned I don't care who rides what, just ride it like you stole it and get there safely. I get along with everyone regardless of make model color or engine displacement!

Those aren't friends...

You got a touring bike. That's what it is. Not gonna take on a Hayabusa.

Besides... rice ain't ****.

If you're really serious, just run them over with your big scoot.

You can probably run with a Honda Goldwing now, possibly outrun a bone stock one if you knew what you were doing, but I bet not by much.

Probably still not as fast as my Honda 250r. It's a cruiser, so what if I can wheelie past you on my dirt bike. That bike is 700+ lbs. Enjoy the ride. You're trying to figure out how to make your 53' Ford Galaxie 500 beat an 08' Nissan 350z. The amount of horsepower to even make it close is phenominal.
