there's a lot of satisfaction when you get it back together. there are some things that can be sort of intimidating to us who aren't MMI graduates. you gotta figure though, the occ guys were able to assemble bikes, so for us "non mongoloid" types it should be a piece of cake.
I've replaced several of the shifter arms with new. use red lock tite on shifter arm and tranny shaft. I would replace drive belt also with that many miles on it.
The shifter shaft will pull out without pulling the primary covers.Pull the bolt from the lever the shaft will pull out of the inner primary.
The lever and shaft that we are speaking about is the transmission shift lever, not the foot control. You have to remove the primary to get to it and replace the shaft seal.
Can anyone recommend this yet. I pulled the inner primary to replace the stock lever, but the shifter shaft going into the tranny is somewhat stripped. Is it worth the $160?
