Do Slip-ons really need power commander w/new air filter?

Depends on what you're gonna do in the future. If all you plan to do is run slipons, and maybe add an air cleaner, you can simply put Xied's on it and you'll be good for a little over $100. If you plan bigger mods in the future (cams, headers, etc.) then you'll need programmable fuel management.
Been running my stock bike with Rush slipons & IED/Xied's for 3 years and am 100% happy with it. Depending on what you're looking for it might be worth a look...

Hi dhog. I have the same bike as you, literally. I've had Rush slip-ons since day one. This winter I added a Ness big sucker stage 1 ($107 just look around, I think at Phat Performance) and the Power Commander 5 from Fuel Moto for about $300. I'm no Mechanic, only an Engineer and it took me less than 2 beers to install both of these. Yes, it makes a huge difference. The bike is really responsive. Not that the bike was bad without it, but you will feel the difference.
