Default Power commander required ??

Good afternoon gentlemen, (and ladies).
I have just completed a couple of mods on my bike (09 Dyna Super Glide custom), and am wondering whether or not I need to install the power commander that I purchased with everything else today, or if I can skip it.
The current configuration on the intake exhaust was, stock air intake with SE slip-ons.
I found the sound of the bike far too quiet as it was. So... Replaced the stock air intake with a Cobra powerflo air intake. All I did to the SE slip-ons was, remove the baffle, followed by removing ALL of the fiberglass packing. I then replaced the baffle's with no further modifications.

My understanding is that if you replace either the air intake, OR the baffles, then no power commander is required. If you replace both then one IS required.

Does removing all of the fiberglass packing "count" as enough of a change in exhaust to justify installing a power commander with the addition of an aftermarket air intake ?

The bike now sounds much better to my ear (still a bit quiet for my taste, but acceptable), I heard no discernible difference in idle.

Thank you in advance for anyone taking the time to help with some tech advice here.

when ever you add more air flow which u did. and you remove the exhaust packing its also going to flow better. you need to add more fuel!!! I would install the pcv. its going to make it run a lot better.

You need to get it tuned by the PCv to run better. What most likely happened is you lost some torque on the low end.

If you have it, I'm not sure why you're not using it, those bikes run incredibly lean from the factory, even a canned base map will be far better off than what you're doing. Add some fuel and enjoy that bike ! Chad
