Default Cheap Basturd Question

Has anyone tried to put auto window tint on their windshields? I've got quite a collection of windshields and was thinking of trying some progressively darker tint on one of the clear windshields for some different effects. I was wondering how it would hold up and what it looks like.

How so? Most tint guys only get 100.bucks to do a truck (3 windows) bet you could get it done for 35.00 easy, Ive thought about doing it to my stock shield too. If your a do it yourself, a tint kit from auto zone is only 19.95

A new one is one 27 bucks at Fast Aire

They are great to deal with and very good customer service.

Curved plastic will eventually start to crack if tinting material is applied....I've seen it!

I tried the cheap route on my short shield. Don't try it. It was a pain in the A** and the curve of the shield affected the ability of the glue and I could not get the freakin bubbles out and it looked like crap!

So what did I do, I scuffed it with 1200 grit sandpaper and painted it on the inside. It looks cool and being it's short I look over it anyway. It obviously is not going to work on a shield you have to look thru! LOL

Hell, if you're REALLY cheap, just paint the sumbitch with some black enamel, Wal-mart, $2.98.

Yeah that's what I was wondering about. I don't want to ruin a good windshield. I was thinking of having a gradual light to dark tint from top to bottom but I guess the plastic crap is not such a good idea.
