Default drive belt life?

What seems to be the life of the drive belt?, I've never worn one out, but then again, have never had a bike that I put more than 30K miles on, fully expect to do that +++ with my current Ultra.
Going to get a new tool, since it appears I have over an inch of play in the belt.........

I have 85000 on mine & believe it is original (I don't think the original owner replaced it & it had 45000 when I got it). Checked mine the other day & had 7/8" of play w/me on it. 3/4" without anyone on it. Good luck

I think it all depends on keeping the adjustment right and physical damage like getting a gravel under it.

I ride gravel every time I get out. About 1/2 mile to the road from my house. I think being loose has helped in that aspect.

Heard 100,000 -150,000 is what is life of a belt if you adjust & keep debris out of it.

My old RK had 106k on the clock with the original belt when I sold it. It was still on there at 120k, the last time I saw the bike. Had a rock puncture at around 20k that I fixed with JB Weld. The '07 has 44k, belt looks new.

There is no simple answer to your question. Even on the earlier bikes owners have done 100k miles on them. Later bikes with the narrower belt can probably expect to get even more miles, because the design and materials of the belt are better. Stone damage is your enemy. I had a sharp sliver of flint puncture mine, fairly near the edge. After around 5k miles the wound began to show signs of distress, so I replaced it.

One big thing to look at when checking the belt;

run your finger towards the front of the bike when checking the "teeth" on the underside. Typically a cracked tooth will not be spotted running your finger the normal direction the belt turns.
