Default Speaker/Amp Install

Even if I had the time I am waaaaayyyyyy to clumsy/mechanically challenged to risk denting/scratching/generally screwing up the bike I worked so hard for when it is so cheap to have it done.

So...if you were having an amp and front speakers installed on your bike where would you take it? I DO NOT want to take it to HD. I have an independent I use who is GREAT but pretty far from me for something this (it seems like) simple. Suggestions?

If you don't feel comfortable doing the work yourself, and you don't want to go to the dealer, then the indy you have is your best choice. Depending on who's equipment you're getting the install is fairly straight forward, probably a two hour job for a good indy.

You really could do it yourself....The hardest part would be taking the outer fairing off.

Most car audio shops will do it and will do a good job, make sure you let them know how much you love your paint job and if they scratch it you kick their Asssssssss!

Not too woried about the outer fairing, more concerned about the tank. Don't I have to disassemble/pull all that to wire the amp back to the battery?

You don't have to but it makes for a much cleaner install. Like 1sweetglide08 stated though, it's not a tough job at all. Remove the fuel quick disconnect, remove the rear screws and the front screws for the tank. Remove your panel on top of your gas tank and it just comes right off and you have access to the wiring harness tray. It is easy to pop open and you can route your main power harness for your amp right in there. Makes for a very clean install and protects your wires.

Undo the front and rear bolt for the dash. Take gas cap off. Undo the front rubber caps to reveal the front mounting bolts on the tank. Undo the ones on the rear of the tank under your seat. That should give you enough room to fish the wires through. If you can take the outer fairing off, you should be able to fish some wires. It's probably harder to get to your battery. Take your time and be carefull.

Removing the tank is no big deal. You can just lift it to run the wires but I would pull it an run the wires in the channel. The install is easy. Are amping everything or just the front? Are you running the amp in the fairing or in the tour pack? two amps or one? Sub in the tour pack?

Amping just the fronts, one amp, mounted on a rack (allegedly supplied with amp) on top of the radio in the fairing.

Well, as you've stated you're not comfortable so take it to your indy. If you're talent level is anything like my riding buddy, then step away from the wrench and don't touch it.
