Default 06 electra glide

my volt meter creeps up after starting the bike ... then after riding a bit it pegs above the 16 volt mark and hangs there. IMy charger works fine and it always starts and the lights do not go bright ... seems all is good .... just the meter goes over all the way .... I don't trust it ... any ideas ????? T man

Seeing you have an 06, did you partake in the 06 touring voltage regulator recall campaign?

PM me your VIN number and I'll run it through the system and see if you have the open campaign on it.

That VIN doesn't show as being affected by the voltage regulator recall. You are under the ESP warranty until 04-08-2012 though, so I'd make them take a look at it. It might be something simple as checking and tightening your battery and ground connections. I'd start there, if that doesn't fix it then check the charging system and the gauge itself. Some have had issues with the gauge itself and don't trust it. I've seen ones as high as 16 all the time. Check the actual voltage using a meter instead of the gauge and see how it compares.
