Default Swirl mark removal

Hey guys im trying to get the swirl marks off my Hard bags and tank. The paint is Vivid Black, but im scared to use a harsh rubbing compound on it. And I really dont want to buff! Is there any safe way to get rid of the swirl marks on my hard bags and tank? Also on another note does anyone use water to clean their bikes or just spray wax?

Happy Memorial Day also!! Thank you for everything all you Vets!

I have used Maquires swirl X it seems to work great. I have a Red Hot Sunglo street glide and the swirls come off. I do wash my bike with soap and water, but i do not directly spray the inner fairing area. Good luck.

Thanks yeah im gonna go get some Maguires tomorrow. I usually wash it with soap and water then wax it while im drying it and i dont spray the inner fairing either.. The wifes dad said he only uses spray wax never soap and water. just curious.

Keep the shine side up!

I used several different products on my Vivid Black bike and have found Turtle Wax "Black Box" to work best for me.

One thing I have found over the years that works for me. Never apply wax with a dry rag, sponge, towel etc. I always wet the sponge before applying wax. As stated above the Maquires swirl X does work good. I have had a black bike since I sold my 89' Glide and decided it was time for a change.

If you can find a product called Liquid Eboney will take care of the swirl marks. I used to get at any good auto paint store.

Sure there are other just as good........

with your vivid black paint be very careful using swirl x and scratch x...if you do it in a circular motion with any significant pressure you'll find you've created more swirl. as a matter of fact even if you apply it in non circular motion you still can add problems.

i've tried these multiple times and have never had good results. first off basic swirls in the paint may be just due to dry wiping, which with vivid balck you should never do.

i gave up on using those products and took my bike to a lexus/porsche dealer and had them professionally polish my bike. now...in direct sun the paint is deep with literally zero swirls and fine scratches. get compliments all the time on it..

in summary I've had no real luck with swirl products on black bikes and cars. it looks great in the garage after i apply it, but as soon as I roll it out in the sun I see that it's no better and sometimes worse...of course this is my expereince. i read that others have good results...but I am one seriously obsessive clean freak.

I've tried GLARE products on my black Ultra.Glare Ultra Wash first then Glare Spider for the swirl marks followed by Glare polish for the shine. I've also received a Forum Member discount.Maybe a little expensive but in my opinion worth it.

+1 on Black Box. Works great on my bike. Also try not to create the swirl marks in the first place. I always wash the bike from the top to bottom and I have a separate bucket to rinse. I also use a separate mit for engine and chrome area
