I have a Supertrapp Supermeg 2-1 on mine. I got it to be a little bit different. And with the tunability, I figured it was the right choice. As far as sound goes, with the closed endcap, its very quiet! Too quiet! Then I got the "race only" open endcap. It was a little better but I'm still missing something. I've had Thunderheaders on my last 2 Softails and LOVED them!! So, I'm thinking I need to get another one for my SG. I'll see if I can do some power/sound comparisons of the pipes when I get the TH. Nothing wrong with the Supertrapp, just not my cup of tea...
I made the classic newbie mistake of going cheap when I bought my SG last year and just threw on some slip-ons. Now I want to open it up quite a bit with more aggressive pipes and air cleaner; probably a tune while I'm at it. Any quick suggestions on the best bang for my buck?
D&D's Fatcat ,or Fatcat Boss with the Big Bore Baffle gets my vote!!!The quality, fitment & power is there!!!
Everyone with the Thunderheaders failed to mention the chrome has a reputation for being poor quality. Also, I guess looks are a personal thing, but I'm not a fan of the "soup can stuck on the end of the muffler" look.
That's why you get the black one silly. Plus, i can't even see the "soup can" while I'm riding it, so who cares, LOL.
+1 ....I've got Rinehart True Duals on mine and they sound great. Just as described above...loud when you twist it...reasonable at cruising speeds. They are the perfect "bagger" duals.
