Default security siren

for those of you that have added the siren to the security system, how long does it scream if you do not return to the bike with the fob?

I added the Radio Shack siren to my security system. I went out to the garage and started moving the bike around without having the fob. The siren started blasting. It stopped momentarily and then started blasting again. I didn't let it continue, But I think it would stay on until it run the battery down. Mine's a 2010 FLHR

thanks, I was hoping it shut off after a couple of minutes. I was thinking that if it kept going until you returned or the battery ran down, you might come back to a bike that is smashed into a million pieces.

Never tested how long my siren goes off, but it has to shut off after a period of time. Just like any other alarm I am sure it will stop before running any battery down

I'd have to check the instructions but my memory says that it will sound for 30 seconds and then check to see if the alarm conditions still exist, like is the bike still being moved about. If not, then it will shut off. If so, then it will sound another 30 seconds and keep checking every 30 seconds until the condition that triggers the alarm ceases.

The factory siren has its own internal battery so if the main battery cable is cut or disconnected it will continue to sound.

My $6 Piezo siren from Radio Shack does what the HD siren is supposed to do for $90 less, except to continue to blast if the wires are cut. I don't know how long it blasts before it shuts off though. I've never tested this feature.

I just got back from Radio Shack with the parts to do the install. $8.10 out the door.

I dont think it matter what siren you use. The tssm tells the siren to activate. The only difference is like some one said, the radio shack alarm will not sound then removed from the bike, whereas the hd has a battery backup. I also did the Radio Shack alram and it is plenty loud enough and you really cant beat the price

Ed Zachary. If someone wants to steal the bike, a siren is not going to stop him. Battery operated or not, he'll still need the FOB to start the bike anyway.
