true duels an exhaust wrap

I toke the pipes off to wrap them as far as the heat shields go they are going back on the wrap doesn't hold the heat in good enuff but with the shields on should be just right. going to get them powder coated white i think to kind of match the wrap that an i have white in my tank badge. the pipes are stock ones that i cut so as far as the wrap messing them up not worried about that. i bought them off a buddy four 50 bucks so wouldn't be a big loss. It was a big improvement on how the bike sounds an runs vs the stock cross over pipes deffently worth the time it toke to cut an weld them up. The wrap i used was some i picked up off ebay it was cheap that may be why im still getting alot of heat may try a better brand this winter. The heat shields are going to coast around 20 or 30 bucks to get powder coated so going to go with that for now

The heat shields will be a little snug going back on, but you should be able to do it.
I used to run header wrap on a bobber I had back in the '80s. Re-wrapped them once after a couple of years, and the headers were just fine. I've not tried it with a twinkie motor.
Here, you've basically taken a throw-away set of stock headers and made them usable, so I salute you.

yea i allready put the heat shields back on had to get bigger clamps but they fit pretty good. Not saying the exhaust wrap will not ruin the pipes but ive never heard of it doing that. besides that you see wrap on some pretty expensive bikes in magazines an at bike shows all the time so if it was that big of a deal lot less pep would be doing it. as hot as the pips get it would be hard four it to hold in moister anyway i would think. And as far as the white powder coating goes no more that it going to coast im going to try the white first if that dont work ill go back with the flat black.

Hey Bro, I'm not ******* your project, it came out great. I'm sure the wrap will serve you just fine. Believe what you will about the effects of using wrap, but if you must know, just call any reputable exhaust manufacturer ask if it will effect the warranty and why. Do your own research and make your own decision.http://www.dougthorleyheaders.com/pr...Y-313_INST.pdf
But what do these guys know, right.
