Default Fairing Mounting Question

I mounted the Dragonfly this afternoon and didn't seat the upper mounting slot all the way to the bottom. In other words, it's tipped forward just a bit.

I did this so I wouldn't have to rotate my bars back too far. They'd be ok back, but I like em forward as much as possible.

When/if I get some bagger bars, that'll solve the issue with the curve around of course.

I just barely notice from the side that it is slightly forward. Again not a ton, and it's solid as hell, but wondering if any of you basically "adjust" the tilt on these fairings or just go all the way into the mount seat (don't say it).

I head out for a 6 day ride Saturday so looking for a little backup that it's cool to do this. Again, it is on there rock-solid, just slightly forward.

Mine is all the way back but I cannot see where it would be an issue as long as the two bolts are tight

Yeah, that's what I think but ya never know if someone has had a different experience.

The big bummer is that the removable faceplate on the Kenwood stereo doesn't stay seated...it vibrates and buzzes like crazy. Sucks...I guess I'll be figuring out a way to tape it (or remove it) before my trip. PITA.

I ran 518s on my RK, so I couldn't have the Dragonfly all the way back, as it would hit the bars, and viberate like hell.
I put about 30,000 miles on the bike like that, and never had a problem.
Just keep those nuts snug.

Thanks Arlin.

Did you ever have the faceplate get loose and buzz like I described?

No, didn't have any problem with the faceplate.
Maybe pull your faceplate trim, and see if it does the same thing.
If it's your trim, maybe you can shim it somehow.

Yup. I made sure it was well braced with the metal mounting strap. It's the removable face that is shaking.

I am going to remove it and look VERY closely to be sure there's nothing going on with the face to head unit seal area.

Thanks for the thought.
