Default How much weight can you put on Harley two up luggage rack?

Before I had the luggage rack that clamps on the back rest. On the rack there was a little sticker that said that the weight limit was 10 pounds. Most of the time my bag weight about 30 pounds. I never had any problems with the weight limit, but I was a little worry that I might look back and not see my wife. So I broke down and got the two up luggage rack that that can handle more weight. When I look at that little sticker it said only 15 pounds. So what I am try to ask you guys that travel a lot and use the harley two up luggage rack. How much weight do you load up on you luggage rack.

I know that you should keep an eye on the plastic bushings if it is a quick detach.

my guess is the say 15LBS to cover their butts. I would try and stay reasonably close to that. I know some say things have to be tested at twice the rating but who knows. I iwll say that the rack uses the same mounts as my tour pack and that thing has to weigh 40lbs empty by the time you add the speakers etc.

Thumbs up

I have the same one and yes i would worry more about the hardware than the rack...But i will tell you this those suckers are STRONG!!! and i would have no problem standing on mine at #240. (And i often do at my new circus job as i ride my bike standing on the seat and luggage rack....o~`o..... :-)...LMAO as that thought goes thru my head!!!!) anyway if you are worried about the hardware contact Bobby (Gilbos440rt) member here makes fine billet mounting hardware....AND dont forget to use lock tight ....Here is a picture of what i found after a short trip...I must of forgot the locktight!!! I wont do that again!!!!!(Bobby shipped out a replacement for me fast!!) Live and Learn!!!

I think it has less to do with the weight the luggage rack can support without breaking than it does with the weight at the luggage rack's location causing handling problems.

Very few have ever paid attention to the official limit. I have never went over 50 to 60 lbs. I think.
