Did you buy new heated grips? The Limited has heated grips so if you change them dont you need ones that are heated? I would like to change mine but was under the impression I would have to buy heated ones and they are just so dang expensive. Am I missing something?

my handleabars.....not sure if its setup for it anywhere im the circuit but its there so I wonder if all Touring models have a heared grip?
Not really sure what you're talking about by putting a spacer in the brake handle to protect the brake switch.
Here is a good illustrated thread about changing out the bars and grips with good instruction on the throttle by wire and also showing the spacer on the brake lever. I followed them when I did my switch.
