S&S 106" build review
#11
It seemed I always had to be above 3200 rpms to have the power I wanted. It was a dog when cruising down the highway. Keep in mind it was a built 95 with headwork. Maybe its a completely different animal in the 106. Dont get me wrong, once I was in the cam it was a monster, I just dont want to cruise at 32-3500 rpm. I also always had lots detonation. No one could tune out of the pinging. Had 3 different tuners do it with no luck.

I've been seriously looking into stepping up to the 106, but the major quesiton I have is what's the rough price tag on the full kit and cam? I've looked around and seen a lot of very different estimates. For anybody who's done it, what was the cost, and who did you have do it? HD? private shop? in your garage?

There's one scarry post. Could you decribe the symptons and what was damaged? What'd you pay for the crank repair? Thanks.

Stock Cranks can only handle much power before you run into trouble. Just throwing this out as something to keep in mind, mine could have been a rare case. After hearing what it was going to cost for the crank to get pulled and fixed I opted to just have a 120R installed, I'll sell all the old parts off my 106 when I get back to NC to help recoup the cost of the 120R.
Hopefully OP has better luck, just saying be careful how much power you add with out addressing the bottom end!
