No one could tune out of the pinging. Had 3 different tuners do it with no luck.
Must have been the wrong cam for all the other ingredients! My S&S motor is only 9.5:1 IIRC, but if S&S can't make their own cams work there is no hope for us!

I've been seriously looking into stepping up to the 106, but the major quesiton I have is what's the rough price tag on the full kit and cam? I've looked around and seen a lot of very different estimates. For anybody who's done it, what was the cost, and who did you have do it? HD? private shop? in your garage?

Congrats on the build; S&S makes some good quality chit.

I have a S&S 111 in my 06 SG; it never ceases to amaze me oh how cool the motor runs.

My 111 runs 20 - 30 degrees cooler than my 107 RG -- I believe one of the main reasons for this is the cyclinders. S&S has a lot of meat on them.

Mine lasted about 4 months before the crank went and started to damage stuff. True and welding your crank might be a good near future upgrade. Hope you have better luck than me with out it!

A good engine build needs to get 1 hp per 1 cid or better or something not right..

There's one scarry post. Could you decribe the symptons and what was damaged? What'd you pay for the crank repair? Thanks.

Here's the thread I started when I first starting having issues.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-oil-pump.html

Stock Cranks can only handle much power before you run into trouble. Just throwing this out as something to keep in mind, mine could have been a rare case. After hearing what it was going to cost for the crank to get pulled and fixed I opted to just have a 120R installed, I'll sell all the old parts off my 106 when I get back to NC to help recoup the cost of the 120R.

Hopefully OP has better luck, just saying be careful how much power you add with out addressing the bottom end!
