Ok guys I need your honest opinion. Please be dont speak from your hart like we guys tend to do when taking about Harleys tell me from your head. I sold my 2008 Street Glide back in Feb. I was tired of the heat from the engine, incurable wind buffeting around the bat wing and indifference from Harley dealers. I thought my BMW GS 1200 would satisfy all of my riding need’s and it does but it does not fulfill my passion like a Harley does. I was at a Harley dealer last week and the 2012 Road Glide is really calling my name! Will it be any better with heat and buffeting? Has anyone gone from bat to shark? From 2008 to 2012 or 2011 and was the heat any better?

I know exactly what you mean as I went to metric bikes for 10 years and there was always that little something missing. I also test rode a RG and the wind was too much for me so I went with the RK and it was what I needed. If your thinking of going back to your first love (Harleys), I would suggest if possible you rent each model one at a time eliminating the one's that just wont do. Only then will you know which one will do it for you. Take your time and make lots of notes, don't get in a hurry cuz you know how expensive it gets when you trade in etc. Don't worry about the indiference of the dealers, their in it for the money just like everyone else. As far as the heat, we can talk about that once you find the one that gives you 'Wood', one step at a time.....let us know how it goes....Tucci

I can't imagine the heat will be much different, I went from the 96 to 103 and haven't noticed much difference but it never really bothered me that much. As for the wind, I just went from a RG to a SG and there is a noticeable increase in buffeting even with a taller sheild so my opinion is that the RG gives you less buffeting.

First off I love my bike and I wouldnt even consider getting a different one. ( Thats from the heart )

The truth.....

I have changed windshields three times, new head pipes, crotch cooler from Capt. Inch, inner fairing wind deflectors, and I still have wind buffering and heat issues. but its nothing I cant live with. I have just gotten used to it. I guess you just have to give and take alittle if you want the HD brand, ( Your give them a few thousand dollars and your bike will take you on one-hell-of-a ride.......)

The faring will affect the wind, seating position and the hand protection. The heat issues are the same. The batwing actually has better wind protection than the RG screen.

The buffeting on my old Road Glide was cured by adding lowers.

You are still going to feel heat on any model.

Again with the stereo crap? Who are the people riding these bikes Vern Troyer?
1. You have handlebar controls FOR the radio.
2. I'm average height, with short arms. If I feel the strange need to touch the radio. I can easily.
