Default 255 Cam Upgrade

I've bit the bullet and decided to upgrade the cam. Does anyone else have any recommendations on what else to change as long as it's apart??

Make sure you get Torrington inner cam bearings, SE adjustable pushrods is a must and if allot of miles you may want better lifters, I went back stock on lifters cuz of the issues I had and thats what was available at the time but this winter I may upgrade them.. Man it was like turning on a light switch as far as torque and speed, My 08 street glide used to take like 2 blocks or more to hit 100mph now it's like half block, Glad I have cruise cuz I look down and I am doing 85mph without it..
Good luck

I changed the cam bearings while I was in there as stated above. Did NOT use adjustable push rods, re-used the stock ones. Had about 12,000 miles on a 08 motor so didn't mess with anything else. Very pleased! (also changed the rear sprocket, exhaust, and changed from SEPST to Rev Perf to avoid semi-qualified, expensive dyno guys, while I was at it.)

Torrington inner cam bearings and SE clutch spring about covers it. No need for adustable pushrods unless you just want them. You didn't mention fuel management. The 255s have an early intake close and the motor should be tuned. If I were you, I would be looking at a TTS Mastertune or a tuner of your choice and a competent tuner. Don't expect much more than 80 something horsepower from those cams but they are torquey and pull hard to 4000+ rpms before flattening out.

I would also replace the 'O' ring at the back of the oil pump regardless of hos it looks when removed. You will see it easily when you remove the cam plate.

Who has done this cam change themselves?

Who has had a dealer do it?

What kind of $ does it cost?

I am wanting to upgrade my 07 Glide, cams, exhaust, lifters because of the noise at 2100rpm.
I already have a Stage 1 with a Techno Research/DirectLink tuner.

Any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking about upgrading the oil pump itself. Hear Harley has a new one they just came out with recently?
