HK Radio problems, Need help
I have just finished installing 2 new arc 6.5" speakers (4 Ohm) and the arc mini amp 125.2. I am only running 2 speakers. Everything sounds great for 2minutes then the radio dies. Everything else works but there is no power to the radio.
Once the ignition is turned off for a few minutes and turned back on the radio works again for 2 minutes then dies again. Something seems to be heating up and causing the radio to shut off. Once it cools it can power up again.
1) I have turned the gains on the amp down to minimum
2) The green light on the amp does not change during the time the radio turns off (it stays green)
3) The speaker switch has no effect
This radio is not under warrenty any longer
Any advice would be appreciated

Well I can't help you with fixing the radio, but I can tell you that if you have to replace it an after market stereo with an adapter such as from Biketronics is much better and cheaper than the HK. Depending what kind of radio you get. I have an Apline that streams Pandora via my iPhone which is in the saddlebag.

I had a similar problem but hitting the speaker switch back and forth would help for a time. My problem was a cracked circuit board in the radio. I had it replaced with an Iron Cross unit and had the RCA pre-amps done at the same time.
Sounds like your problem is the same to me, cracked circuit board.
*EDIT*
Helps if I read the entire post.
I would pull out everything you have done and go back to stock and eliminate the aftermarket products as an issue.

Thanks to everybody for your input. Between Firecap and Iron hourse I think the problem is resolved.
It turned out to be a voltage issue. I was running the radio without running the bike, which I have done in the past. But this time with the amp the voltage dropped below 8.5V, thats where the radio shuts down.
I gave the bike a quick charge, started it and ran the radio for over 10minutes with no problem.................I think I'm good.
Thanks again for the input. You gotta love this form................
Cheers
