Push button and no problems with it, been on the bike for 3 years. Had a buddy who put a locking gas cap on his gmc truck and had the same problem with it.
Guys my problem with this type of gas cap is when it failled and could not get the cap off you are stranded until you can get gas in the tank. When on a trip this can be a big impact. In looking at the construction of the cap even tho it looks great (Bar and sheild) the inner part are CHEAP. This is just a warning that if you are starting to have issues with this type cap throw it away. I'm not going to get burned again, will go back to stock cap.

So far so good with my locking H-D cap after 2 years or so, but this is a good heads-up because that would truly stink miles from home. The funny thing is that I bought the locking one after someone here said their stock cap was stolen. I can't win!!!
