Default avon cobra for '09 and later

is anyone running this tire? http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorbik...i-road-glide-1 .

i have been very pleased with the stock 407 rear and 408 front both in terms of wear and wet and dry performance but not so pleased with the price. from what i have read the american elite sounds like a good alternative but i'd like to hear anyone that has run the avons in this size.

cheers

Not apples to apples but I ran the Avon Cobra's front and back on my Roadliner and they were an awesome tire. Great traction wet and dry. I cant remember the exact sizes but the rear was a 200 width. I will look at them again when my RK needs tires. I think anything but Dunlop is an upgrade. I do hear the Elite 3's are good though.

I don't have the tire myself, but I have a riding friend with the Avon Cobra, he likes it a lot and says it has better traction than the OEM, he rides a lot and has put more miles on the Avon than he got from the OEM Dunlop, which is one reason I'm considering it.

I've had the Cobra's on for the past 6000 miles and rate them for feedback and stability at all speeds and in the wet. I will get at least 6000 more miles out of the back, probably more, difficult to tell as tyres tend to become harder as you wear them down, and there is certainly more than half the tread depth left.

I will replace them with the same tyre when the time comes.

From reading other posts bear in mind I'm in the UK and tyres seem to wear faster over here.

For me anything that gets over 12000 miles on a rear is good, 15000 miles is exceptional, so much so that I've never seen it personally.

That's good to hear, I wondered if they would get comparable milage to the 407/408 combo.

I switched to Cobra's a few months back. Partly based on cost. The OEM Dunlop were almost twice the price from the HD dealer. So far I've had no issues. Good tyres for the price.

I've got Avon Cobras on my '10 Street Glide, and I like them very much. Outstanding grip dry and wet…they feel like a softer tire than the Dunlops I had on prior, and I don't expect to get as much mileage out of them, and I'm ok with that.

The only difference from your link is my front tire is an 18 incher, not 17.
