Default 255 cams installed: Tune or just add a canned map

I just had 255 cams installed on my 2010 FLHTK, the indy that installed them for me said that the local dealer has a map ready to load for my set up already, or I could pay more and have it dyno tuned. I already have a SERT installed and had it dyno'd in July of 2010. It has a SE air cleaner, Vance and Hines power duals and Thunder Header slipsons. I can tell ya right now without the tune, it is running great, it brings a great big grin to my face everytime I gas it. Pulls real hard. After the cam install it lost the decel pop in the mufflers, but I do get some pinging at 70, so I know it needs the timing tweeked. Also, now my Thunderheaders are very Loud! I know when the wife rides she is not going to be impressed. I have a set of Rinehart 3.5" that I have considered swapping, but I know it may loose some power. So, tune or dyno and Thunderheader or Rinehart slipons?

Dyno tune for sure, sometimes the preprogrammed maps don't give you everything out of the mods. I prefer Rineharts myself and with the right tuning didn't lose any power on my bike. 2007 FXDSE 110, still love my bike and the power.

A map is just a place to start, if you really want the bike to be on point, go ahead and get it tuned, if your happy with the way it runs and don't want to tinker, then just keep it as is.

with already having a tuner on the bike your better off just getting it re dynoed as others have said it will maximize your performance and shouldnt cost much more than if you pay them to load a "base map"

Its almost $300.00 for dyno and $125.00 for a remap. So dyno it is, now rineharts or thunderheader. BTW, after all this expense another thing I want is to be able to hear the cams lope at idle too. Can the tuner/tech make sure to set the hot idle at or just below 1000 rpms?

You already have the SERT. Buy the cables and software and tune it yourself. Since it has been dynod, it would not take a lot of smart tune runs to dial it in. Also I loved my thunder header on my Fatboy, and I love my Rineharts on the Street Glide. I like the true dual sound and looks of the 2 pipes, but I liked the performance of the thunderheader better than my set up now

i used the 110 tune with the 255 cam for my 103 install and just changed the cu in and did the smart tune about 10 times - i still need to lean out the cold enrichment, but other then that plugs are brown and not white like it was stock...

When the dealer does the cams and loads a stock map, they don't add the SERT do they? I'm looking at getting this done and then getting a PV to tune it afterwards so it doesn't affect the warranty. The dealer won't tune with anything but the EPA compliant maps.

No SERT usually they just sell you the download at about $ 150.00. The Dealewr Price on the SERT Or Super Tuner is over $ 400.00
