Lowering spring kits for front end
Thinking of lowering my front end 2". First off does anyone have any good or bad things to say about handling? I have a 2006 Street Glide...Pretty much stock. Also, What about ease of installation and cost. I try to wrench on all my own stuff, so by cost I mean materials. Any input would be appreciated.

If your going to do it IMo do it right and swap out to mono tubes , dont just do the drop in kit or a lowering kit. You are cutting your suspension travel in half so you should at least improve what you have , changing to the Progressive mono tube will greatly improve the quality of the suspension.
Same amount of labor just a increase in parts cost, I think the Progressive Drop in Kits are about 75.00, The traditional lowering kit is about 140.00 and the monotubes are 240.00 appox.
But with the monotubes you also will never again have to change out fork oil because they are a gas charged sealed cartridge type unit

I have Race Tech gold valve emulators lowered 1". No way I'd go 2" unless it was just for looks. JMO

+1 on the monotubes, I just did this. Same labor costs, better outcome. Good time to do chrome forks too if you're thinking about doing it because it's the same labor so if you buy the parts, the installation is essentially free.
If you want to lower the front end 2" you should lower the rear 2" as well to avoid handling problems. You can lower the rear without lowering the front, but you shouldn't lower the front without lowering the rear by at least the same amount.
The monotubes still require some fork oil, but it's just for lubrication, it has no dampening function so once you get some in there, you don't have to touch it unless you have to replace the monotubes.

Let me add this into the mix...If I decide to go with a 21" front tire, would that change anything you have recommended?

I did the Progressive Drop-In kit. I went down 1.5" with SE fork oil. I think the oil is making it too stiff. I'm going to swap to 50% SE and 50% stock next time I have the front end apart.
