Default 2 into 1 is better, but it looks like it NEEDS another pipe!

Going on in my quest to pick an exhaust system for my bike, I'm seeing a lot of people going 2 into 1....the pro pipe or the fat cat. I know that its probably better overall, but doesn't it look funny only having a pipe coming out of one side?

You get used to it, and if not, a lot a manufactuers make a ghost pipe for the other side that you can not tell isn't real.

+1. D&D makes a ghost pipe for the left side. Others do as well.

Default 2:1

I actually prefer the 2:1 look on a Street Glide.

I think 2-1 looks much better on the newest bikes. I hate how duals look on '09+ bikes on the left side where the exhaust goes under the frame, looks fake. On the '08 and older bikes duals look ok on the left side.

Frankly, I think appearance is more important. Honestly, are you really going to feel like you have a dog if you have an X-Pipe type exhaust and a rocket ship with a 2-1?

A good 2-1-2 pipe (like the V&H Power duals) will give you 95% of the performance benefits (exhaust scavenging) of a 2-1.

I have never liked the idea of a fake or ghost left pipe. If you go 2-1, learn to like the look. Who wants a "poser pipe"? I do think 2-1's look pretty bitchin' on extended bag bikes that only have 1 exhaust cutout.

Anyone who knows about harley's will know what and why you are running a 2:1. Although a ghost pipe serves no function, there is nothing wrong with it if it appeals to you, but most riders will know it's a fake.

" but doesn't it look funny only having a pipe coming out of one side"? Oh heck
no it dosn't at least not to me. I almost didn't buy a touring bike because of the
looks of the exhaust pipes, but I loved the cruse control more than I hated the
stock exhaust. To me ALL harleys should have two pipes on the righr hand side
of the bike.
