I have an 07 FLHT which is not so standard anymore, and one thing I hate is the factory Harley Davidson sticker on the tank. Would love to have tank sanded and painted so I could add the Harley emblems like on a Street Glide tank. I was wondering how these emblems attatch to the tank, are they just stuck on the tank with some kind of super 2 sided tape or is there more there than meets the eye? Never heard of one falling off, just hard to believe there is nothing more than tape to hold them.

...and a devil to get off! There are threads on here about doing that.

 

Spray your tank with glass cleaner w/out ammonia & use dental floss to take it off. Then put on the new ones.

 

I took mine off but broke one of them I have seen them for sale on e bay. I hated cleaning around them and did not care for the look up close. I think the emblems look good on the road or at a distance.

3m makes the tape that most manufacturers use to affix emblems. You can find it at any good automotive paint shop or e-bay

 

I took mine off. I like it better without em. My 07 ones are made of plastic

 

Like Casper said. Double sided tape. Lots of them on ebay. A very easy install. Here is a tip. Line them up using masking tape. Step back to be sure they are where you want them, make adjustments then stick them on. Once they are on, they are on for good.
