Pingel Cycle Jaws
Hi, has anyone purchased the Pingel cycle jaw for hauling their bike? Is it worth the money? Has anyone used it in the back of pick up truck? I live in Illinios and want to haul my bike to Florida this winter and would appreciate any info someone could give me on hauling an Ultra Classic in back of a short bed pick up. Thanks
Why not the U-Haul Bike Trailer? Leave it in Fl. when you get there, rent one when you return... They look decent for that "Once in a while" kind of thing, my .02
I've heard horror stories about big bikes loading/unloading in trucks, and also about "Cheesey Chocks"

Welcome to the forum. Never used that device but it looks very stable by clamping down on the tire, as long as it doesn't strike the actual rim.
Many use Harbor Freight's version which just stands up the bike. They both need to be mounted down, and you'll always want to strap it down. Be certain all straps pull the same direction ... too many strap forward and backward and those will allow the bike to shift and as soon as a strap loosens the rest of the straps will loosen too.
There's been a dozen posts about hauling in the back of a truck. You may want to use the forums search tool, or Google "hauling a Harley in the bed of a truck / HD forum" and you'll get a dozen threads to read and few hundred suggestions. But to sum it up most do not use trucks. Typically the bed is really high to get an 600 to 800 pound bike into and most have to leave the gate down to support part of the weight which is not a good idea.
Good luck with your decision. If you're only going down for a short while you may want to just rent a bike there. Consider the time, effort, and gas mileage. Many fly into Florida and even rent a new Harley for the entire time they are there. That's how I got my first Harley experience.
