Nope, he said 6 months, I lasted 19.

And truthfully, I'd still have it if not for the oil usage. It was truly a great bike.

Did you look at the new water cooled R1200GS before the getting the new hog?

Yeah, didn't feel like beta testing a brand new bike. It's very, very nice though.

It's been really funny reading and seeing the reactions when I tell BMW people that I traded my Adventure for a Harley because I needed a more reliable bike.

I've had a couple of Beemers and I think you found out what I did. The BMW "superior engineering" is a myth. Not a bad bike mind you, but no better engineered or long lasting than other brands. They have issues like everything else. The big killer of potential sales here in Ohio is the lack of a good dealer network. All the folks I know (who have the money for a bike like that) don't want to drive 80 miles one direction for a warranty issue.

I badmouth HD dealerships as much as the next guy, but when you're traveling, you just about can't get stranded. Heck, an indy repair shop could get you going too. BMW just doesn't have that kind of presence in this country.
