the factory air box is designed to be restrictive. it isnt to restrict air getting in, but to keep intake noise from getting out,intake muffler... getting you to buy a replacement air box to replace the stock one you just bought is just a nice side effect.

 

To the OP. First of all, take everything the dealership tells you with a grain of salt. Most of the time the service guy either doesn't know what he's talking about or they are trying to sell you something. I'm not saying they are all bad but you have to be careful. Personally, i know very little when it comes to tuning EFI bikes. I rely on people like Lonewolf and Work Truk for advice on these matters. These guys wrench and tune these bikes everyday and know works. They are not trying to sell you anything. Their expertise/knowledge will turn a stage one dog into a real hot bike.
