Default Cruise on a 2010 FLHTP

I am doing my winter projects on my 2010 Electra Glide police bike. While looking into the wiring i found the 3 wires not installed in the harness going to the ECM to control the cruise. Not a big deal, but when I went to verify the part number of the ECM I found the part number doesn't match whats called out in the parts manual. P/N installed is 34245-10 the parts manual calls out a 34246-08A. For you guys that have put cruise on a 2010 police have you had issues of any kind that I should know about?

Hey 77Tulsa. Sorry to have to post this here, but I'm the one looking for the right turn signal chrome cap. Send me an e-mail or a PM and we can chat. My zip code is 84701 in Richfield, Utah.

The main wiring harness and the one to the handlebar switches is different on the police models. The connectors used for the OEM cruise are not the same as the ones used on police bikes (6pin + 4 pin for stock, single 12 pin for police). The dealer can rewire it to work, but you better be very competent with connectors and wiring if you want to do it yourself.

Have a problem. Added the three wires to the ecm harness and have the hand controls, took it to the dealer to have Cruise control enabled and they told me it will not take. Keep coming back with not enabled. I have the 34245-10 ecm and I am wondering if this is holding me out. Spoke with Dave at Cruisemount, he said they have not heard that it will cause a problem. Harley Tech will not give me any help outside of an OEM condition. Dealer says it must be the ECM.

Anyone have a sugestion to get my cruise working?????

34245-10 is your ECM in an unlocked and unprogrammed stage.

That is the part # on the ecm.

34246-08A is another ECM Part # that I have seen on other posts. Just need to know if anyone else has same ECM (34245-10) and also has Cruise control. Because dealer says they cannot enable the current set up. They said each time they enabled the Cruise it went right back to Not enabled.

I understand what you are saying but 34245-10 is not a sellable part as per the part number. It is the core part for your 34246-08A (there is also a B edition for later models now). It is basically just the case and hardware containing the internal parts as an ECM. To actually see/know what ECM with calibration you have you will need the Digital Technician (dealer only). Its like having a hard drive for your computer before formatting....its just a hard drive until you tell it (program it) how to operate/perform. And as far as configuring the cruise....if all the hardware that you installed is not connected properly and all wiring properly done...the ECM will not recognize cruise. However, to your benefit, if all is well then it might just be the programmer (mechanic) not being familiar with toggling and saving programming.
Good Luck

I just installed it on my 2012 FLHP, Bought the kit from HD and the install harness from crusemount. It went pretty smooth. I did make it part of my sales agreement that the dealer would turn on cruise when I purchased the bike. The sales rep told me it was a pina as cruise was not a option in the settings. They had to purchase and download another program to reflash the ECM. Claimed HD charged them $100 for this new ECM program. Wasn't sure if I believed him or not, but everything worked when I installed the cruise.

So I asked about all of the comments while I was at the dealer the second time. I was led to believe the first time that because it was a police model that I could not have cruise. Went home and did some homework ( not enough I guess ) and followed the wiring diagrams in my shop manual then returned to the dealer to be told that ecm must be blocking it out. Asked why the whole ecm couldnt be wiped and start over. Now I am looking for a second dealer to make sure it isnt a case of them just not wanting to do it.
