Having been a wrench for over 20 years I already had sets of SnapOn Torx bits and had no issues with stripping the screw heads out. I did not realize there had been so many issues with these screw heads over the years til I came to the forum.

Probably because you were using the correct tool for the job, like most good mechanics.

On the other hand, the average new Harley owner is not a mechanic.
That is why you read about so many with some type of issues, not just with the torx head screws.

Some have also striped the screws because some nit-wit put red Loctite on screws that dont need it!

This is what happened to me. Even with impact driver and hammer, stripped 3 out of 5 getting them out. You could see the leftover loctite on the screws. Dealer did my 1000 and this was on my 5000. Dealer will never touch this scoot again except for recall.

What other sizes are now being used??

Mine had a heavy coat of some kind of white loctite on them at 5000 mi service. Almost striped with a cheap T27 bit. Bought a good T27 for socket where I could put good down pressure on it and no more problems. Also went back with blue locktight.

Yesterday I went to Sears and got a Craftsman T27 screwdriver. It was only $4.49. Item # 941479. SCU # 64873841791.
