Lucky you guys do not live in Missouri, have to have the inspection (MVI) sticker on a fork tube, left side here. My old ride was on the tube where the upper cover came down over it while riding and visible while parked. Don't know where I will have the next one situated on the RG.
Great forums guys. I just moved to Northern VA (Fredericksburg) and just purchased a sweet Softail Deluxe mostly chromed out and i have been wondering about where to put mine. The guy I bought the bike from just handed it to me when he delivered it and said, "You may need this". I will take a look tonight and see where I place mine after doing some work on the plate. Sucks that will be almost the only thing on my bike that isn't chrome...
Welcome to the forums and to the Commonwealth! As you can see from what we all posted, the sticker can be put in pretty inconspicuous places.
You will like riding in Virginia! Like NC, there are lots of great roads here, but in VA, the mountains are closer than they were to you in New Bern.
See you out there! (I'm in Centreville like another poster.)
NC no longer requires a sticker but when they did I put the inspection sticker inside my saddlebag. I'm sure an LEO in a crummy mood could have cited me for that but I don't give them a reason to pull me over.
The sticker is proof that a state certified vehicle inspector has checked that you have working headlight, tail light, brake light, turn signals, and horn and that your brake pads are not worn. In other words, that you paid someone to check items that you be checking yourself.
Seriously? Do cars need this inspection? Seems rather petty to me. These things are something that a cop can see just by looking at you while you are driving. just another grab of your hard earned money....

Motorcycles, cars, trucks and trailers with brakes are required to have annual inspections in Virginia. Cars and trucks in some parts of the Commonwealth are required to have emissions inspections every other year. And you can be stopped and given a ticket for not having a current inspection sticker even if everything is in working order.

Seeing some of the junk cars that are on the roads here in the states I am glad that there are annual inspections. Even though the inspections are not even close in depth as the ones I went through in Germany. Hell a two year old car passed inspection here in the states and then failed inspection in Germany.
