Default Anyone Here use a Plus 1 Oil Pan?

What they claim seems logical, but is it really true? Anyone here have a Plus 1 oil pan on their bike that could let me know if they are happy with it and feel that it lives up to the hype? Any concerns with oil pressure if you have a pan that holds 1.5 more quarts than stock?

Thank you.

seen a couple of favorable posts about this baker oil pan- more oil is always good.

pressure and oil tank volume are not related in any way ( unless volume drops to near zero)

but those prices are nuts.

unless you have a pressing need for an oil pan, ( like you holed yours on a rock) don't worry about it.

an oil cooler is a good idea in high temps, having clean oil of the proper grade and rating and a quality filter with the correct filtering ability and bypass valving is what counts to have you motor last near forever.

I'd happily throw one of those on if it were say $65- which is what I paid for the Moroso +2 extra capacity pan, filter and gasket kit for my Blazer's TH350 tranny.

Red face For the money, you could buy.....

The cost doesn't justify the benefit IMO. The claim it will lower oil temps by 10 degrees...is that really a benefit when the oil is 280?

I'd spend that cash on a good cooler...the Jagg ten-row. Just sayin.

Man...guy could do some great motor work w/that kind of coin vs. replacing oil pan. I'd say you're better off getting oil cooler & tuner for bike...JMO.

Would be interesting to hear if anyone has experience w/one of these w/results.

.

Yep, don't see it as being cost effective either.
A oil bud cooler is not that much $$$ and they guarantee a 35 degree drop in temp. FWIW..
If that's what you're tyring to do?

I just finished installing a Baker +1.5 this past weekend that I purchased for my 120R project. It was very pricey...$615.00 shipped! I had been told $625.00 by Baker and was surprised when I opened my shipping invoice. I've had a couple of Baker products in the past...and yes, they are very proud of their stuff! I'll be running it with a Jagg 10 row and thermostat.

I justified the cost when I looked at my investment on the 120R and all the doo-dads that it needed. You simply can't mount an argument against an extra 1-1.5 quarts of oil with an air cooled engine! For a stocker...no way! There are plenty of other methods of cooling a 96-103 down to manageable temps that are more CE or ROI based!

I've included a couple of pictures of it. As you can see, there is a huge difference between OEM and the Baker. It looks like it was designed and machined by NASA! It utilizes every inch of space under the tranny and between the frame...pretty impressive!

But the question remains...does it work? Well...I won't know until I'm heading down one of these Florida highways this summer and it's 95F! Baker states 16F...and that's significant!

We shall see...

Steve

Yeah but you've gotta 120 R, Steve

You're just trying to be proactive and you probably should be considering what you now have, but for the rest of us, it is more than likely over-kill.

I do agree, sir. Got a stocker...save your $600.00+ and spend it on something else!
