Thanks!

The battery does last for a while, and for me, the front part of the fairing was easy to remove.

So, in trying to do this, I've got the new speedo reset switch soldered to the garage door opener and it works like a charm.....until I snap it into the opener plastic case. Why in the world I'd that happening.....thinking about just wrapping it in electrical tape and calling it good. Ideas?

Nothing is simple in my garage

Here's another idea instead of a ziplock bag...
duct tape & velcro

i don't know what I'm doing wrong, but i've got it soldered together working perfectly outside the bike. mounted it on the bike, drilled the hold for the button, etc and it still works like a charm...time after time. as soon as i put the outer fairing on, it stops working? i don't get it...is there something i'm doing wrong...these things are designed (and it worked previously to taking apart) from inside a car...

It sounds like the wiring is fine, just to get the direction down.
Mine was intermittent with the duct tape housing, switched back to the ziplock and no problems.
I noticed when the opener was lined up one way inside, it did not respond as well when it was lined up another 90-180 degrees different.
Try different positioning, not a whole lot of room underneath but you should have a few options with position...
