Another idea is if you are NOT using the CB function just use the PTT button on the left handlebar. It is already wired and mounted. The + and - of same button works great for adding or releasing air on an air ride system!

This thread inspired me to do similar. Since I don't have a fairing to hide the remote in, I hid it behind the left side panel.

Very small push button switch below front edge of LH side panel.

got me thinking there is a hole on the left side of the frame under the seat that would work just fine . actually i use that hole for my air ride switch but it should work for the trip switch . feel under your seat on the frame and you will find it .

Remotes come with the garage opener, but you can buy extra ones from Home Depot, Lowe's or other similar stores.

I usually pull up and rev the engine... Kids open the door but there is a delay and its not 100% effective. Sweet, clean, and simple mod thanks for the pics !!!

On another note you would think HD would take notes from most auto makers at least on high end bikes. Blue tooth (for Pandora and mp3 players), and garage door opener would be great options at minimal cost. How long have wireless garage door openers been around?

Be careful soldering - I apparently got it too hot and shorted the board, because the batteries only lasted a day or so. My second try went fine.

I used an odometer reset switch mounted through the fairing.

Default GDO on FLTRU

Mounted my opener in the glove box, with an odometer reset button on the door:
