Progressive 940 Ultra Touring Shocks
For anyone on the fence about replacing the stock air shocks, I just replaced mine with the progessive ultra touring shocks last night and went for a 40 mile quick ride. What a difference! My back didn't get sore, but never lost contact with the seat and bike felt much more connected to ground, no more bottoming out. Can't wait to get the monotubes put in the front

I have a set of 940's on my bike. I agree there's no comparison between the stock air-shocks and these. I wound up sending mine back to Progressive and had them replace the 940 springs with 'standard' (130/90, I believe) springs. Think these are the same springs used on the non-Heavy Duty 440's. I'm 215# and never ride 2-up, and my 940's were a little too 'stiff' straight out of the box. Just something to keep in mind (think it cost me 25 bucks, including shipping). But if yours are good as they are and/or you ride 2-up very much, no need to fix what ain't broken. Ride safe...
As for Harley admitting anything, unless it's a clear safety issue, good luck... I've heard they install the air-shocks from the factory because it's the cheapest method of providing load-adjustable shocks.

940's have the same installed height as an FLHX/FLTRX; on an EGC or Ultra they would be an inch lower. As to ride height while riding you adjust that with spring preload, much like adding air does for the stock shocks.

The 412 are their entry level shock and they list it that way. The 440 and 940 use the same valve technology so in that way the dampening is basically the same. The difference is the 940 are a 13 inch shock that is designed to sit static at 12 in , the advantage is you have the travel (3.14") of a 13 inch shock but the ride height of a 12inch shock
