Default Touring Luggage for Lady with Streetglide

Hi...

I bought a street glide last week, and am fretting a bit about getting it and myself ready for a tour with a Chapter HOG ride in mid-may.

my current luggage was just..a bag I tossed on my softail.

So, I would like to get luggage for my new adventures with a touring bike.

I am stumped whether I need the large HD touring bag on wheels, or the combo set of day bag with mid size touring bag, or overnight bag with large bag on wheels.

thing is, you can spend and spend. I'd like to get it right "the first time".

I also am interested in the simplicity of attaching the HD touring bags, versus what I have, which has me using all sorts of straps everywhere to hold a bag.

My trips will be day trips, long weekend through to 1 week get aways..and though I will ride solo, I do have sissy bar. But, I will pack a bit for my daughter, if she is coming, though she won't ride with me.

Thoughts?

Warm regards

I have this one. It's got plenty of room for a weeks worth of traveling for two people if you pack light. My g/f and I packed it and did a 2k mile round trip to Rolling Thunder last year. If I had it to do over again I would get the one that is slightly taller and more narrow, so that it would sit on the luggage rack a little better. I run the rain cover on it at all time to keep petty thieves at bay when I stop for gas and restroom breaks and it keeps the sun off it as well.

thank you. So, I think the one you have is the large one. Then, there is one that is the largest, but it has wheels. I do not know if it is taller or more narrow.

If you don't have them you can get lift-out bags that fit in your saddlebags. Harley and others make similar things, which mean you can pack them indoors, then all nonchalent like take them out to the bike, or into your hotel. I don't think they do purple.....

Resist the temptation of getting too large a bag to go on the back, unless you only stop where there is a porter!

Joking aside, you can get a colour-matched tourpak and a fitted lift-out bag for that too. Better still shop around for soft sports-type bags so you can get say two of them in there, to make it easy to get them out. The harley soft bag takes some lifting out when full.

I am my wife's porter.....

I have one fairly close to this but it is a Nelson Riggs so a little lighter on the wallet. Also came with a waterproof cover.

I used this Kuryakyn Full Dresser Bag on my Road King Classic. I don't use it anymore.

I used the Kuryakyn Full dresser. It goes on and off easily and has wheels so it rolls like a carry-on suitcase. You can see it on my bike in my signature pic and in the photo below in the fully expanded mode (I was on a weeklong trip and had my FF helmet in the top section in case I ran into bad weather). It is a great bag, lots of helpful features and was easy to live out of for a week. I bought it after posting a similar thread on these forums and getting this bag recommended multiple times. It's about $150 on LeatherUp.com before the discount code.

Here is a video showing how it mounts and some of the features. I could put it on and take it off in about 30 seconds.

The one in the picture above has wheels and the collapsible handle as well. I'm not certain of the measurements, but I can take some when I get home if you need. I didn't do any research. I needed a bag to carry all of our stuff on the trip (she decided to join me at the last minute), so I went into the dealer and bought one that would do what we needed. So there may be much better options available.

As far as the bag itself, it is a quality piece. It's held up well and it is easy to get on and off. Much better than what I was doing before, lol.
