Default 05 Road King Transmission

Hi Guys ...I have a leak at the bottom of the Tranny..It is not the drain plug or the shift lever..And I do not see it coming out of the main shaft area...When I shine a light over the primary I can see the oil leak below the main shaft, the oil seems to be sitting on a ledge there, a inch or so below the main belt shaft...Some people have mentioned a trap door, I have never heard of this, and where would it be located...Any thought appreciated..Thanks Brummie PS..Using Red Line Oil...

There are two possibilities, one is the seal in the tranny casing, around the output shaft behind the front pulley, the other is the seal at the back of the primary, around the input shaft. The trapdoor is a round cover with that second seal set in it, behind the clutch. When removed the trapdoor provides access to the front pulley and the tranny seal.

Yes, plus the primary drive, in other words compensator chain and clutch. I strongly recommend you get the factory service manual so you can size up what is involved! You may also find videos on YouTube that will help.

It is possible it is an inner primary seal.
