Default front caliper removal??

Is it necessary to remove front fender to slide off calipers on 1999 electra glide. Either I was doing some thing wrong or there isn't enough clearance to lift caliper off rotor. Any tips??

Not sure about your '99 but I had to drop the front wheel on my '11. It was kinda tricky because you can't get the caliper off with the wheel on and you also can't get the wheel off with the caliper on. Drop the wheel just a little and then remove the calipers. Put a rag over them because I guarantee they will either bump your wheel or your fender.

All you need to do is rock the caliper back and forth to push the pistons back in a bit. This will allow you enough room to get them off without disturbing the front axle to drop the wheel.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Was hoping I didn't have to jack bike up just to change pads

I take the calipers off of my rkc by unbolting the caliper mounting bolts and rotating the caliper to the rear a inch or two and twisting the caliper a little to compress the pistons while pulling off the rotor. It's a tight squeeze but they come off without damaging the fender. I not sure if this will work on your eg though.
