Default Shorty windshield

I have been considering leaning out my Ultra, QD tour pak, Shorty windshield etc. My concern is that I have heard from others that the short windshield causes buffeting at head height and gives you a serious headache. Anybody else have this problem?

I have the medium windshield on my 07 flht.It works great.I can see over it and it does'nt buffet.I'm 5'11". Your height will make a difference on how the wind hits you

I ride a classic, I'm 5'11". I put a 10' HD windshield on and did a 2500 mile tripand had no problems it looked a lot better but wanted it even shorter. Then I put a 8" dark smoke on and even tho it looked good I didnt care for the way it hit right in my line of sight. I have now put on a 7" from cee bailys and it solved the line of sight problem. I have taken some rides around town and had no problem with it but havent had it on a long trip. From the way it felt around town I think it will be just fine.

I use the Clearview re-curve shield. I have a 7 inch on my Ultra. I am 5.6 and can see over the shield. I don't have a problem with the wind due to the shape of the shield. Call them, give them your height and what you ride and they will hook you up. www.clearview.com

I also have a Clearview recurve on my SG, but mine's an 8". At 5' 10" I can just barely see over it when slumping in the seat without the backrest, and it provides adequate buffeting protection at high speeds. With the backrest I'm straighter and sit taller, and can see well over the shield still without a buffeting problem. The recurve supposedly provides the equivalent of 2" more height in wind protection. I would recommend this over a straight shield if you like looking over it rather than through it.

I would like to try a Cee Bailey, but I'm unsure what size to order. The 11" has the same height as an 8" HD, so that should be right, but I haven't heard any feedback on its effectiveness. One person on another thread reported the 13" to be excellent in wind protection, but that would be too tall for me, as I'd be looking through it. The SSC's cannot fit a windshield bag, which is a big minus for me.

I've got the 8" Clearview with recurve also. It does a good job of providing wind and buffetting protection in my opinion. The look has not worn as well for me however. It seems to stand to straight up and somehow doesn't look as good as my 9" Fast Aire on my SG. Now for the Cee Bailey SSC...it is by far the best windshield I've ever used. Nothing provides a wind pocket like it does, I think it looks great, and mine is a 13" or the equivilent of a 10". I'm 6' and I just look over it due to way it curves into the rider vs straight up. I also have a 9" that I really don't care for. It doesn't do much of anything other than look good.

...not a single answer from someone actually running a "shorty"...mine doesn't afford much protection at speeds between 45-65, not bad at low speed, and at 75 or so it smooths right out and wind drops off a good bit. Never had any symptoms from riding...but I've ridden a long time w/o a windshield at all.

absolutely!!!!! My stock SG windsheild was a nightmare. I purchased the 6.5" and it 90% better. The wind feels great. But a headache isn't acceptable.

May not read across to everyone, but this is my experience (I'm 5'10"):
[ul][*]Test rode a stock StreetGlide; terrible buffeting, so bad that at 80mph I nearly lost my shades.[*]Owned a stock UltraClassic; could look over screen, no buffeting at any speed, best screen I've ever hadbut not stylish[*]Now own a 2006 SE Ultra (6.5" screen); looks great, buffetingfrom 50 (but not as bad as the SG), reduces when over 80mph.[/ul]
I like the looks of the 6.5" screen, but am considering getting something taller (or different profile) as much of my riding is done at 60-80mph and the buffeting becomes tiring after an hour or two.
